Stormy weather in the Strait of Johor

Yesterday a thunderstorm was building up and the sea looked so different. I don't know why the navy was staring at us, but they look good in the photo all the same.

Cucu's socks

I tried to knit a teeny sock by memory and when I bought a pair to check the size, realized I aimed too small.

Cucu's blanket

I have finished Cucu's blanket. It is very small and only big enough to use in a pram or in the carseat. Nacho inspected it and found it suitable to like and use. So it passed the test of 'Do I like you or not'.

Sunrise and sunshine over the Straits of Johor

The sun is shining and it is a beautiful day. As it is written: This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Ps118:24
I am desperately trying to learn Chinese, so here is for me to try and memorize:

I took the photos early this morning and as usual there are some clouds, but the sun is shining brightly today.

Just look how the early morning sun is catching the buildings in the city of Johor Bahru. With the naked eye it looked much more beautiful, really eye-catching.

Malay friends

Misna was the first Malay to try teach me her language. We still struggle on as she cannot say 3 words in a row in English and I cannot say 3 words in a row in Malay!! Yet, we manage to somehow communicate! Here she is with her beautiful daughter who has just finished school.

Reverse parking in ships

I am so glad I do not have to park ships. I admire the captains and tugboats who can park these huge ships as though they are parking little cars in big parking areas. These ships seem to park forward, sideways and also in reverse! The ship in these 2 photos are clearly parking in reverse.

7 Borealis in Johor Strait

We've been watching this huge crane which was not in clear view for days on end. We were not sure whether the crane was on land or on a ship. Today was the day to see it! It is a massive crane on a ship. We saw the name of the ship and one can google it for more information. The ship is called 7 Borealis and the one site that gives a lot of info is:

The ship was taken from the one end of this harbour to the other side. At least 4 or 5 tugboats helped it. It amazes me how these ship manage to park.
