Johor Bahru Central

I took a busride from Permas Jaya to Centre City. The nice thing about going by bus is that you sit high up and can see more than from a kereta or teksi. Also, it is much cheaper and more interesting. It seems the buses leave more or less every 20minutes. I keep forgetting to time how long the journey is. The cost is in the region of RM3. The Permas Jaya Bus is the 123bus. The busdrivers are always reasonably helpful and friendly.

The busses go from the various suburbs to the centre city and then from there again to the various suburbs. With time you get to know go to get to different places. For now, I can go to the city and back to Permas. I have also been to the centre city and from there to Bukit Indah. When you are new at this, you just have to be patient and you need time.

In the city centre is the big mall, City Square and in there you also can go through customs to go to Singapore by bus. The very convenient thing about buses are that you do not have to worry about parking. City Square has many, many shops and 2 very nice bookshops, not to mention eating places. Outside the mall, is a beautiful Indian temple and a number of Indian shops. I noticed a couple of tailors as well. Close by is another mall with the Kambar material shop. The fabrics in these shops are absolutely beautiful. Totally alien to me is the fact that the material shops do not sell cotton reels and scissors, needles and beads that you need to sew with.
