We did not see much of a sunset as it was cloudy, but it was still beautiful and very pleasant to sit in front of the many restaurants and watch the sea.

Kota Kinabalu Waterfront
I was very fortunate to be staying at the Waterfront and overlooking it.
Salut Restaurant
We arrived in the Land below the Wind, safe and sound.
We were then taken to Salut Restaurant which seemed to be a little out of the city and located on the edge of a river. We had a variety of seafoods to taste and enjoy. Here are some of the seafood. More were to come.
The brave ones to tackle Mt Kinabalu.
Soup with shells in.
Pineapple juice in the pineapple.
Soft skin seafood - you can eat the skin.
A little hidden delicacy.
Going to Sabah from Johor Bahru
Going to other provinces in Malaysia is a very pleasant experience. I went to Sabah this weekend and we flew in this very pretty aeroplane.
I was very fortunate to have a window seat. Here is a photo of Johor Bahru from my viewpoint.
The clouds were beautiful.

Sweet and sour powder to have with fruit.
I went to dinner with friends some time ago and for desert we were given cut fruit pieces - water melon, pineapple and mango. There were also little bowls with this brown coarse powder. I was told to take a piece of fruit and dip it in the powder and then eat it. It is a sweet and sour powder. I could not get a name for it. When I went to Kipmart today, I noticed that some of the peeled and cut fruit had a little sachet with brownish powder. I immediately recognized it and looked around the stall to see if they would be selling packet with the powder. They did. It is just called Sweet & Sour. The Malay name is Serbuk Asam which translates to acid powder. The Chinese translation to English is acid plum powder - 酸 梅 粉. This is a very unexpectant pleasant combination - this sweet and sour powder with fresh fruit.
The ingredients are in Malay: buah kering, gula, garam, likuoris, perisa dan pewarna yang diluluskan. In English it is - dried fruit, sugar, salt, liquorice, flavoring, approved coloring.

Kipmart in Johor Bahru
Today I experienced Kipmart. Just as well I don't live close to it as there are so many nice eats!
It is still durian season.
Freshly fried eats.
Freshly peeled fruit.
More fish than you could choose from - all fresh.
Fresh red meat.
Lots of fresh chicken.
And of course, always friendly people!
Not my kind of seafood.
Also not my kind of seafood.
So fresh it is still alive!
Fresh banana leaves/daun pisang.
Fresh banana flowers to cook and to eat.
More fresh local flowers to cook and eat. I don't know the name yet.
Dried seafood.
Little dried fish.
Nasi lemak. I meant to buy some, and forgot. Nice stuff.
Just for the record - Kipmart does not only sell fresh foods. There are also clothes, bags, kitchen stuff, shoes and stationary.
A 'we will go again' place.
Angsana Mall in Johor Bahru
I did not take enough photos. I did find a very, very nice little shop with beads, ribbons, more ribbons and all sorts of stuff for Malay weddings. AND I actually saw sewing cotton and machine needles being sold in the shop! The shop is so full of stuff that it would never really show on a photo. I did not want to dig my camera out of my bag, just now someone would think I'm taking stuff. It is such a nice shop. It is a 'we'll definitely go there again' shop.
Angsana has many shops selling the typical Malay clothes, also for children - too cute.
When our legs got really sore and tired we decided to have MacDonalds - I had to eat at a MacDonalds at least once in Malaysia! Nothing new for a South African! The chips are just as nice and here one can get ais Milo - a favourite!

Baby on Motosikal
I have managed to get a photo of a little baby between the parents on a motosikal. One can only see the tiny feet.
